5D Digitalisation to Speed up the Energy Transition

Digitalisation is improving the safety, productivity, accessibility and sustainability of energy systems. It can help integrate variable renewables by enabling grids to better match energy demand. Storage and digitally enabled demand response can reduce curtailment. Blockchain allows consumers to order electricity directly from a neighbour’s solar PV installation. This session will explore different aspects of digitalisation – from artificial intelligence to the Internet of Things, to blockchain – in the renewable energy value chain and how these can contribute to accelerating the uptake of renewables.
